Notes on fuses and fuses

1. Voltage Ratings:

The voltage rating of the fuse must be greater than or equal to the maximum voltage of the open circuit. Because the resistance of the fuse is very low, the voltage rating of the fuse becomes important only when the fuse attempts to blow. When the fuse element melts, the fuse must be able to quickly disconnect, extinguish the arc, and prevent the open circuit voltage from triggering the arc again through the disconnected fuse element.

2. Current Ratings:

The current rating indicates the current carrying capacity of the fuse under a set of test conditions. Each fuse will be marked with the current rating, which can be a number, letter or color mark. The meaning of each tag can be found through the product data table.

3. Breaking Capacity/InterrupTIng Rapid:

The fuse must be able to disconnect the faulty circuit without damaging the surrounding circuit. Breaking capacity refers to the maximum current value when the fuse can safely disconnect the circuit without damage under rated voltage. The breaking capacity of the fuse must be equal to or greater than the maximum fault current that may occur in the circuit.

4. Melting Integral:

The fusing integral of a fuse is the energy required to fuse the fuse element of the fuse, also known as the fusing value I2t. The structure, material and cross-sectional area of the fuse element determine this value. Each series of fuses uses different materials and component configurations according to different rated current values, so I2t of each fuse is determined
